The Safety and Training Specialist coordinates daily safety and environmental initiatives to ensure a positive and safe work environment. Areas of specialty for this position will focus on auditing work environments, practices, and procedures.  The Specialist will also serve a significant role in training management throughout the facility.



  • Support of safety, training, and environmental management system at Stupp corporation
  • Assists with Environmental Compliance requirements such as Spill Control Plan, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, Non-Hazardous Waste disposal and recordkeeping
  • Facilitate near-miss, injury/illness root-cause investigations. Provide technical EH&S expertise and support in the identification and mitigation of hazards.
  • Evaluate the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions
  • Support safety, environmental, and training related projects and compliance initiatives, as assigned.
  • Ability to work rotation shifts- nights, weekends, or holidays as assigned.
  • Coordinate training initiatives throughout the site.
  • Conduct Safety and other training as needed for onboarding and employee qualifications.
  • Track training records and compliance.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Preference for recognized professional training or certificate in EH&S discipline.
  • 2-5 year's experience in an industrial EH&S capacity.



  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and manage time constraints meet deadlines on projects and corrective actions.
  • Ability to explain complex compliance requirements and procedures in a way all employees and leaders understand.
  • Ability to lead change and influence leaders at the site to help find appropriate solutions. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations; specifically, 26 CFR 1910. Familiar with environmental reporting requirements.



  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds,
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid environment and outside in all weather.
  • Able to traverse to and from all areas of plant. This position requires frequent traversing areas, both raised and below grade, accessed by ladders, steep stairs, and catwalks, sitting; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or bending. 



Circumstances may require meetings throughout the facility, including the mill and offsite. Some travel may be required. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
