Plans and coordinates maintenance schedules for equipment, machinery, facilities and systems as they pertain to the manufacturing process of making API line pipe.



  • Creates and updates records of planned and completed maintenance, equipment lists, and hierarchy of plant facilities using an integrated computerized maintenance program.
  • Reviews manufacturers' service manuals to establish preventive maintenance schedules for lubrication, parts replacement and overhaul.
  • Develops and coordinates plans for reconstruction and/or installation of equipment, machinery or facilities.
  • Estimates costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during planned maintenance. Compiles costs incurred for completed work for analysis.
  • Supports changes to mill equipment and facilities to provide increased yield and uptime (Reliability) of all facilities and maintenance systems.
  • Prepares Technical Reports, Plans and Procedures for Maintenance and Operating Systems as they pertain to facilities upgrades and/or improvements.
  • Assists in the internal training of company employees as it pertains to the development and scheduling of maintenance resources.
  • Provides vacation relief for the shift supervisor and mechanical technician.
  • Supports and maintains an active and healthy quality system and ISO 9001 program.



Mechanical/electrical background is necessary. Must have adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job. Formal education in the field of Engineering Technology with a minimum of three (3) years experience computerized maintenance planning and scheduling may be substituted in lieu of experience. B. S. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is desirable.



  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Above average ability to calculate projected schedule times and required man-hours to meet scheduling needs.
  • Good problem solving skills with an ability to prioritize work based upon changing production needs and yield conservation.
  • Professional licenses and certificates are a plus, but not required.



Employee must be able to climb stairs, ladders, get up on roofs, move about the facility, and be able to crawl over and under equipment in order to inspect and troubleshoot equipment.  Employee must be able to travel by car or plane and perform general office work. Generally, work will be performed at a desk or PC workstation in an office environment.  Fieldwork will be required within and outside an unheated or non-air conditioned manufacturing facility.  However, circumstances may require on-site meetings and investigations throughout the facility and off site.
