Capex Business Analyst

The Capex Business Analyst will be responsible for supporting the annual Capital Expenditure program. Capital expenditures support the ongoing performance of Stupp Corporation's two Steel Line Pipe Manufacturing Facilities, office complexes and surrounding 125-acre campus. The individual will review, analyze and evaluate existing asset performance data and compare that to the performance data of a proposed new asset. Through financial and operational modeling, the individual will be able to provide the anticipated financial returns necessary to make sound business decisions.

During project execution the Analyst will track project expenditures and report useful performance metrics including, but not limited to Earned Value, Planned Value and Schedule Performance Index. In addition to individual project metrics the Analyst will create summary reports for monthly and quarterly reporting on the portfolio of projects. The goal is to provide financial insight that will help the decision-making process and align capital and resource allocations within the business budget. 

After project completion the Analyst will continue to track asset performance metrics and determine if the anticipated returns are being realized.

The Capex Business Analyst will work extensively with other Analysts, ePMO, Mill Engineers, Technical Managers, Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineers, and Production Managers to ensure that the business cases support the on-going Continuous Improvement goals set forth by the Company. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gather information and evaluate output requirements.
  • Construct workflow charts and diagrams.
  • Retrieving, collecting and compiling relevant operational and financial data.
  • Assist with the business case.
  • Planning and monitoring.
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Variance analysis.
  • Use existing information systems and create new ways of reporting relevant project and portfolio information.
  • Write final reports for projects inclusive of operational performance and financial benefits realized.
  • Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Mathematics or similar. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in industrial setting preferred.
  • Project experience preferred.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Has the ability to work independently and with others.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Works well in team-based environments.
  • Responds well to constructive criticism and engages freely in the same.
  • Comfortable taking initiative to ensure Project metrics are reliable.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to move about facility and spend time in mill environment.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The majority of Projects will require that time be spent in the mill. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
