Draftsperson

JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Draftsperson will be responsible for activities involving the company drawings including, but not limited to:

• Updating drawings as approved by Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
• Create electronic copies of all relevant paper drawings and where necessary re-create drawings.
• Assist Maintenance in locating and printing latest revision of required drawing.
• Manage Engineering documents, drawings and ECRs.
• Create and enforce SAWH drawing standards inclusive of drawing formats and software versions.
• Review engineering drawings for macro correctness.
  • (For example, Vendor A is providing a piece of equipment that will attach to Stupp equipment.  Key items the Draftsman would need to determine are whether the bolt pattern is a match and will the equipment fit?)
• Taking and reporting in-field measurements for Engineering and Vendors.
• Produce drawings from rough sketches.
• Small design projects as directed by Engineering.
• Other functions, as needed.

The Draftsperson will work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance Teams to ensure the drawing system is easily searchable, current and can quickly produce a drawing when needed. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associates Degree in Technical Design and Drafting from an Accredited College. 
• Strong preference for individual with Machine Design and Manufacturing Design experience.
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in Industrial setting as a Draftsman.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Strong organization skills.
• Works well in team-based environments.
• Responds well to constructive criticism and engages freely in the same.
• Comfortable taking initiative to ensure success of the tasks.
• Proficient with CAD software, Word and Excel. Creo familiarity a plus.
• Able and willing to learn new design software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to move about facility and spend time in mill environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position will require that time be spent in the mill taking measurements, timing processes and observing process improvements. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
