Maintenance Specialist

The Maintenance Specialist manages the day-to-day functions and responsibilities of Maintenance and control systems as they pertain to the manufacturing process of making API line pipe.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, Configure, Analyze and Troubleshoot Control Networks.
  • Design, Configure, Modify and Troubleshoot Processors/PLC - Both Hardware and Software.
  • Develop, Configure, Modify and Troubleshoot HMI Systems
  • Continuous Process Improvements, Supports changes to mill controls to provide increased yield and uptime (Reliability) of all mill maintenance and control systems.
  • Configure, Start-up, Optimize and Support Troubleshooting of AC & DC Drives
  • Prepares Technical Reports and Procedures for Maintenance and Operating Systems as they pertain to control systems upgrades and/or improvements.
  • Mill Support Do whatever is required to insure that all maintenance and control systems are ready to operate when the mill is operating.
  • Assists in the internal training of company employees as it pertains to the maintenance and control systems of the plant.
  • Vacation relief for the shift supervisor and control technicians.
  • Supports and maintains an active and healthy quality system and ISO 9001 program.
  • Directs specifically focused process teams for special projects.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 10 years experience in the field of Maintenance controls and systems and a minimum of 2 years formal education in the field of Maintenance or Engineering Technology. Completion of a comprehensive training certification program, such as trade school, an apprentice program, or military MOS school may be substituted in lieu of formal education.

  

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good to superior mathematical skills.
  • Troubleshooting and planning skills.
  • Good cognitive reasoning abilities
  • Professional licenses and certificates are a plus, but not required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee must be able to climb stairs, ladders, get up on roofs, move about the facility, and be able to crawl over and under equipment in order to inspect and troubleshoot equipment.  Employee must be able to travel by car or plane and perform general office work. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Generally, work will be performed at a desk or PC workstation in an office environment.  Fieldwork will be required within and outside an unheated or non-air conditioned manufacturing facility.  However, circumstances may require on-site meetings and investigations throughout the facility and off site. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
