Process Control Technician

Provides technical oversight to specific manufacturing processes or workstations to optimize uptime, reliability of equipment/tooling, drive necessary scheduled repairs and provide supervisory oversight as needed.  Responsible for communicating repairs, projects, and process improvement needs to Maintenance, Automations/Controls, and Engineering.  Able to coordinate project installations and provide focused supervision to execute equipment commissioning.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mill Tooling Processes:  Able to track varying tooling for the mill production to record run-hours and monitors wear-life of tooling contour.  Communicates work-orders for tooling repairs and/or details machining requirements to outside vendors.
  • Able to track consumable spare parts for determining replacement life-cycle.
  • Able to design custom hardware or brackets to improvement equipment performance based on monitoring techniques at the workstation. 
  • Operate according to SOPs developed for site engineering and maintenance.
  • Partner with different disciplines to streamline workstations for process efficiencies.
  • Generate documentation for single-point-lessons, and SOPs.
  • Manage localized work-forces for custom projects, or daily activities with plant services and/or other inter-departments as tasked. 
  • Support operations with technical queries and data monitoring.
  • Performs additional related duties as requested.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

(2) Year Associates Degree or College Bachelor's (4) degree, work experience may be substituted for post-high school education.  Minimum of (5) years experience in industry, preferably in a metals industry or relevant manufacturing environment, with particular emphasis in drafting, designing, complex level operator and/or supervisory roles in a manufacturing setting.  Has previous experience with process improvements and developing work instructions.

  

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive experience with identifying workstation requirements and ability to write specific tasks for employees to execute.
  • Strong working knowledge of root-cause analysis for equipment failure or trouble-shooting.
  • Working knowledge of reading machinist prints or layouts
  • Experience working with OEMs to refine operation manuals for specific applications
  • Knowledgeable with OSHA requirements for general and construction industries
  • Proven track record with training employees
  • Ability to work independently or in a group dynamic to complete tasks
  • Basic computer skills for data trending or writing procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to derive cost effective solutions at specific workstations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; teamwork
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and API 5L

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 Must be able to move about facility and spend time in mill environment.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 Circumstances may require meetings throughout the facility, including the mill and offsite. Some travel may be required. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
